Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Management Authority (Authority) receives MSW and recyclables from 76 municipalities across a two County region. Recyclables are collected curbside and at drop-off facilities and delivered M-F to the MRF in Utica. They are processed as single stream commodities. The facility also receives primarily commercial source-separated corrugated cardboard, with some generators including bagged container materials with the corrugated cardboard. The commercial waste is stored separately on the tip floor. Both streams are processed through the Recycling Center where materials are sorted into two paper streams (size differentiation) and a container sorting line.
